Le geste d'amour

Who we are, what we do and how we do it

Almost 10 years ago we set up our NGO "Le Geste d’Amour", after the December 2004 tsunami in Indonesia where there were 240,000 victimes.

To find out how to help the victims of this disastrous tsunami, we visited the place that was most affected in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Returning to France, after two weeks in North Sumatra,we were convinced of the need to help the tsunami victims in Sumatra.

Our goal is help children in Indonesia rebuild their lives by providing education,
shelter, food and a family, until they are empowered and able to lead their own lives.

Finance

Our association receives the donations of 23 godfathers in the form of a monthly transfer.
Added to this are occasional donations from individuals and companies (Credit Agricole among others). We receive also an annual donation from Rotary International Cote Carry Bleu. We organize temporary actions (Indonesian meal and dance party, garage sale, New Year's Eve party, bingo).

Sitinoraiti

The institute SITINORAITI was built in November 2006.
After all the work to find a place and the buildings to be able to welcome the children, we
started the renovations and construction of SITINORAITI in October 2007 and finished in
July 2009.

The first 7 children came on September 19th 2009. The children are guided by an Indonesian
couple and live together as a large Indonesian family. Twice a year the president, Sylvia
Wilson, of NGO Le Geste d’Amour which is the biggest donor of institute SITINORAITI,
returns to the institute to see the children and the couple who’s take care of the children.
Regularly there were volunteers who helped the children witht theire homework or helped to
maintain the buildings.

In this 10 years we had 16 children who, most of them, now have left the institute Sitinoraiti.
Children who finished their education, who continued a higher education, or who are working
and continuing their education elswhere, and who is working. At Sitinoraiti there are now 3
more children. There are four children waiting to come to the institute Sitinoraiti.
To be able to guide the children until they are autonomous we remain in regular contact with
all the children, even if they already left Sitinoraiti.
The NGO  Le Geste d’Amour in France and the institute SITINORAITI in Indonesia needs to find the godfathers and godmothers to continue helping the children of Indonesia who
need help to build their lives.

The Indonesian Government

Tourism now accounts for 4% of Indonesia's GDP. It is in fifth position in terms of revenue
for the country. The Indonesian government announced in the early 2010s to double those
numbers by 2020.
Studies show that tourism in Indonesia over the past twenty years is grouped around three
major sites (Bali, Jakarta and Java). To diversify and exploit new tourist areas, the Ministry of
Tourism has selected a dozen sites throughout the country that will benefit from important
public investments. The Lake Toba region is a priority in this tourism development policy.
